Research
Motivation and scope
I am Quaternary geologist / sedimentologist by training, with a broad range of interests. My research focus is the recent geological history of the Alpine realm in the widest sense. I investigate landscape modifications, sediment transport and depositional environments from the mountain range over the (especially northern) Alpine foreland to distal settings such as the Upper Rhine Graben.
Current projects
- Investigating Early-Stage Quaternary Overdeepening in Oberschwaben (as part of ICDP DOVE)
07/2023 - 06/2026
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) project no. 517980590 - Quaternary lithostratigraphy in the Upper Rhine Graben
(05/2023 - 05/2024: palynological analyses funded by Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Freiburg) - Quaternary lithostratigraphy in the Verbano glacial amphitheatre (as part of ICDP DIVE)
- Geotechnical properties of glacigenic sediments
